warped store

on a road trip a lil while back, was driving around and saw this on the side of the road. knew i had to make a stop and check it out. one of the windows was broken and the climb to that window wasn't too difficult. tried to pick an angle of the exterior that wouldn't give away the name of the market.

without giving too much about the location, i thought that this place had been abandoned due to the recent fires, however after exploring inside, i don't think that's the case, since the whole floor and foundation was warped.

it looked fairly recently abandoned, since there were still many items left. i wish i checked the expiration dates on the sodas/water bottles, but that idea never popped into my head. i also saw an old photograph of what i assumed was the owner of the store and their family.

Pretty cool to see items still on the shelfs! Also the exterior has a real ghost town vibe to it. Nice set!

Aquafina packaging & bottle style could give away when those items were left behind.

Great shots! Looks perfect for the season.

I did some investigating as well. Pepsi bottles have used that logo since 2008, but Aquafina changed their logo sometime early 2016. The old labels could have still been in distribution for a while afterwards, but bottled water is usually supposed to be sold within two years. So at the latest around 2018, but at the earliest sometime in 2008.

Appreciate the reminder to take photos of expiration dates!

thank you for the suggestion! upon looking at the aquafina bottles, those should be after 2009, since that's when aquafina did their 50% less plastic eco-fina bottle as shown in the packaging. as for the pepsi bottles, the pepsi bottles look to be before the 2013 bottle redesign, where the shape of the bottle was redone. soo i'm guessing this place was abandoned somewhere in that 2009-2013 timeframe.
