Anyone Explore Semi-Active Military Sites or Abandoned Military Facilities That Are Monitored?

So one of the locations I've been looking at exploring is a cold war military facility out in pretty much the middle of nowhere. It's within a large property belonging to the Army, however it's also used recreationally in some places for camping, hiking, and ATV riding. I've been out on the property before to check out some of the buildings and radar towers and the only real military presence I've encountered is a single military police vehicle which passed me on the road and didn't seem to mind me at all.

Within listening distance of two of the sites I already explored were temporary military buildings with a few well maintained trucks out front and even a single tank at one site. However being nearby these buildings, I never saw anything to indicate that anyone was using them at that moment nor any visible cameras (though I don't doubt I've been caught on one somewhere, it is the military after all).

All in all I've felt rather safe from any sort of military interference so far. However the set of buildings I'm looking to explore next is s used as a site for counter-terrorism training. I highly doubt that I'll run into one of these trainings and satellite shows no such temp structures that were near the other sites. The buildings themselves are falling apart and have vegetation on the roofs. I suspect this site is intended to emulate combat ruins of some sort.

My question is: Do I risk this exploration or just leave it as it is used in some official capacity infrequently?

It really falls in the situation you find yourself in.

If there’s already people and activity at the site, your best bet is to come back another day.

If you’re exploring it, and people start to roll in, your best bet is to leave as soon as possible unless you want to be target practice.

Pretty much just common sense at this point.

I'm gonna be honest with you, military locations are always some of the coolest you can explore, but they can also be the most hurtful and dangerous as well. We had a while back where there was this one guy who was exploring an abandoned military arsenal,(would not recommend, both endangered that guy's life and lead to a felony charge and several misdemeanors to showed up within about a year afterward{Link to it here: http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0 }) and the place was abandoned, but he was still tried in federal court. It is good to remember that while there is a lot of bureaucracy in the government, it does eventually get around to things, so you might think you are fine now, but several months later find that you are in serious trouble. I get the sense where you are exploring is not a federal arsenal, but still, I would be very wary of exploring any place with military units still on site.

Anyway, I would always spend some time observing the place before going in or anything of that sort, but you also don't want to look like a spy or something like that, so it is a tough situation. Maybe talk to some locals if there are any in any nearby towns, see what they know about the place or look for the name of the place online. I'd go with your gut on this one, but my gut is telling me not to risk it.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do,
