I just wanted the UER family to be aware (sad news ahead): Three of our favorite abandoned spots out in East Tennessee have been set on fire within a week or so. The first was the first was the TMI, next was a building at Knox College, and then the last was Currier Elementary. I'm not sure how much damage was done to Meiji Gakuin, though it was already pretty rough. I can't find an article but there's plenty of pictures floating around. Knox College is fine (as usual), but Currier is completely gone. https://www.wate.c...off-of-northshore/ https://www.wbir.c...-92a1-4f4ac7769d04 I really hope they catch whoever's doing this. It's heartbreaking to see these places go.

Yikes, that's unfortunate. I think arson is a special kind of evil when it comes to damaging locations because not only are they harming the building itself, they're putting the lives of firefighters and neighbors in danger to get their kicks.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.
Posted by Aran they're putting the lives of firefighters and neighbors in danger to get their kicks.

"Firefighter arson is a persistent phenomenon involving a minority of firefighters who are also active arsonists." https://en.wikiped.../Firefighter_arson
"Aint nothin' to it but to do it"

I know! There are people that live very close to TMI and Currier Elementary has close neighbors and is directly in the woods... If you want to set something on fire, don't do it next to sleeping families.

Hmmm I never thought of that! I'll read up on that, thank you!

Fire's a beautiful thing - and easily addictive.

I always get madly upset when I hear about fires. In the forests, fires are the saddest thing. Animals are dying and millions of hectares of trees are burned to the ground. I remember the terrible fires in Russia in the taiga. It was a disaster that hit the climate of the whole world. As well as fires in Australia, which claimed the lives of many unique animals. No less dangerous fires that ignite in houses due to the negligence of residents. But fortunately there are guys like these guys who react quickly and go to the rescue. I have always admired firefighters, because they are real heroes to whom we should be grateful. I wish you all good luck and take care of yourself!
