This greeted me at the Target store in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Your response is even scarier considering where you live.

I don't choose the response - the government does. We've been fucked. I'm worried for everyone else.

I think I was a little ambiguous with my wording. I meant that your statement had a high impact because you live (according to your profile at least) in NYC. As you’ve already stated, you’ve been there. I remember the Italians saying something similar to us back in February. This whole thing has felt like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

I suspect that a NYC fire door key would have been an all-access pass. There are a lot of places that we should have gotten into went we had the opportunity, but for whatever reason, we didn't.

Various retail companies in the UK are getting ready to open again in some form - McDonalds/KFC/Burger King and other chains are opening in a limited capacity for takeaway/drive-thru orders only, and a few of the 'big name' non-food retail shops are getting ready to open again which is sort of promising. There is talk of primary schools (elementary schools for the US people) reopening on June 1st and secondary/high schools opening after that at some point. Deaths are still steadily going down and cases decreasing but nobody here wants to reopen too fast too soon.

I know someone who's snuck up there. I wanted to bail on a really hot spot we were in and he said "I'll show you how to get up there if you stay with me here." Really childish attitude. When someone says they want to bail, let them bail. So I never learned how, though I have an idea. This is the same kid who almost got us killed in the tidal drains in that story I posted a few years ago. Not worth exploring with someone who thinks going deeper into a flooding tunnel is worth IG clout.
If you ever end up in civil court for a dumb-ass ticket for being in a park at 8 pm, you'll definitely be able to see the inside, at least!

Nah, different guy who went a few weeks prior.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. |

BAD IDEA: Not social distancing. WORSE IDEA: Shove the park ranger warning you about social distancing into the river. https://www.states...h-shove-into-river

Security guard murdered for telling customers they needed to wear a mask. https://www.usatod...r-mask/3081674001/

At a bank, sure, I could see that, even if it's ironic a customer is being told to wear a mask rather than take it off. But a dollar store?

I'm tempted to say, it's a gathering place for the best of American humanity /s, but that's wrong and classist... Hang on, breaking news: https://www.cnn.co...ce-trnd/index.html Americans being called-out for doing things that can be interpreted as either negligent, ignorant, or mildly sociopathic sometimes like to go out of their way to clarify exactly how sociopathic they actually are. That's one manifestation of the "rugged individualism" deeply-ingrained in our culture. "Try to shame me? Fuck you to death."

Now the crap going down in Jerkwater, USA is national news. https://www.nbcnew...ronavirus-n1200641 Perry doesn't even rate as Jerkwater any more. A town that once had 3 railroads and a trolley system no longer has any public transportation whatsoever. Troubling? Yes. I was in the grocery store in Perry on Saturday to pickup a few things. I think we're all being sold down the river by greed.

What's really troubling is our fucking president ordered them to stay open and keep working. He knew this would happen but did it anyway.

Ordering the food production industry grind to a halt would be an even bigger mistake. There are many other plants still operating with only minimal problems because they reduced the line speed and spaced out their workers. Tyson, not so much.
