Hello all,
I have been stuck at home for a bit now after one of my more recent expeditions and have picked up a hobby of watching various people exploring a variety of abandoned locations. Something I have noticed is that quite a few of these people like using drones, specifically for overhead or panning shots for their intro/outro shots.
I was curious if anyone here used drones while exploring, or if you found it more of a risk of getting caught in the places that you explore.
Personally to the places I have gone recently, using a drone would draw too much attention from the noise to the object shooting around the air when people are expecting clear skies. I could definitely see them being used if you find locations that are just left behind or isolated.
If you do use drones, what kind of places do you feel comfortable using drones and how long are you willing to fly it around?

I just started using a drone about a month ago and its awesome. Ill mostly only use the drone once I'm on the outside and not on the property anymore. Using a drone inside can be loud and cost you precious moments if you have to run for some reason. Photography is almost always legal once you're on public property such as a sidewalk or street. In some countries you can not fly the drone over private and/or public property so you have to pay attention to the drone laws, unless you have permission or don't really give two shits. I recently went to Jamaica and used it to take aerials of several buildings while standing on the street/sidewalk. Majority of the time I only stayed for a few minutes since it started to draw a crowd. Bunch of my friends who explore recently picked up drones too.

I've been using drones for a few years now, but never much while exploring. I'm just always in a rush to get all the shots I want I get out. Almost any drone you'll find now, even an older one, will have GPS so it'll know to stay in place if there's wind. If you just want pictures than the DJI Spark would be the best deal, but the video quality on it isn't as good as other options.

Yea all the time. I only use the DJI mavic mini so the wind pushes it out. I almost couldn’t get it back one day because I was too high up and the wind was pushing it away. Most of the time it’s not bad tho. Gives you a bunch of warnings and what not
