What a gorgeous building, Freaktography Great, well framed, solid shots... pretty stuff. On the right of the main staircase what is/was that large piece of concrete that looks like steps?

Thank you, yes the stairs have collapsed all around cutting off access to the roof/upper areas
Post by iamglamourghoul What is up, guy. Great pictures as usual!
Thanks so much
Well, that's interesting. That piano used to be white. Schweet pics dude!
Thanks man, I really wish that bench was still there. Would be interesting to see pics of this piano progressively over the years

That's got to bug you what's up there. Now I see where the stairs used to be... still waking up Beautiful, old school shit there... I wuv these types of massive brick buildings.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

I believe I have some pics of the upstairs. I could dig them up later on, after work, if you guys wanna see. There wasn’t much up there. Also, this is a small portion that remains of the original auditorium. The entire thing was quite grand. But it’s been demolished for a long time, if I remember right.

Yes, I read that the big fire of 1997 destroyed it as well as City Methodist and more.
I just went there a month ago! Pretty sweet location. When I was there, there were remnants of some homeless person living next to the pink piano. I didn't encounter him though. Also, when I was there, they still had the stairs intact. But it was rotting like crazy and looked absolutely terrifying... Man I wanted to see the top floor

Ya there is a blue sleeping bag in some of my pics and probably the same items as you saw.
Crazy that those stairs dropped between your visit and mine!

It was a beauty. That amount of labor you don't see put into almost all new buildings. Look at all the brickwork, wow. Lol, what I can't access always bugs me a little, but if you did and there's not much to see... don't bust your balls looking/posting the images. This is a treat as is

I sure know the feeling of curiosity. But it's no trouble at all. My balls are already busted anyway. Ha.
The remaining stairs were sketchy when we were there as well. It was definitely a tense feeling walking up them. To the right, you can see the remnants of the adjacent stairs. The second floor was missing the roof entirely. What appeared to be small stages flanked each end.. The floor felt solid but I still didn't like it. We went down in a hurry. I also remember it being brutally cold that day.
^Cool. Thank you chuck barkley Oh yeah, that be sketchy... Witchy stuff, no way to tell when it will go and no warning other than that zero G free bird shit. You be bad and made it😎

Yeah those were one of the sketchiest stairs I've seen. I feels like one tug from the direction would get this bad boy tumbling down. I'm glad you braved it to the top! I don't have the balls for that
I think the fact that the other stairway collapsed already solidified my decision
Despite that basically only the lobby is left of this place, it's still fun to wander. Here a few of my photos from August 2016. The piano wasn't there back then, unfortunately.

Hilarious to think someone lugged that thing up and in there for who knows why!?

Going into the trip to Gary, I figured we would be popping locations off like crazy and not spending much time at each. But we found lots of them to be so interesting and photogenic that we stayed way longer at each than we planned.
This location, City Meth and the Postal Office for example - in pics, they looked like 5 shot locations but once inside it was a whole different experience!
I had the same experience in Gary. I've been there twice and barely got halfway through my list both times. The good news is that I have plenty left for a future third trip.

Duuude one can only imagine XD Maybe someone wanted the most isolated place to setup a piano and mediate in the beautiful remains of an old building. All while playing Mozart or something relaxing... I can totally go with that!
