Hello everyone! I'm new to UER and figured i'd dive right in. These pictures are from an abandoned cement mill that a couple friends and I use to go to during my time at Florida State. Growing up, my dad always brought me on hikes and is an avid urban hiker and explorer. I always liked just being outside and really liked the community on the site. I hope to meet with some UER members/people from the Broward/Miami-Dade area, and I know of a decent amount of cool sites in the area. Please let me know how I can improve my posting/photography - any kind of tips are welcome. The mill is a short walk from a gravel lot, through the woods and under a bridge that runs over a small creek. I have plenty of pictures from all over Florida, the southwest United States and random pictures from around the world. The pictures are far from professional photography level, but I figured it would be a good starting point. I will upload more frequently in the coming weeks in between my fairly hectic schedule. Hope you guys enjoy. **Sorry for the edits, still getting the hang of this.

Thanks! I couldn't get it to post right side up, and I tried to rotate the picture and re-upload it. Are there many people from the South Florida area on the site? I haven't seen many posts, and there are a lot of cool spots down here!

Welcome to UER. You got the idea, and on your first post #1 is interesting. Looks like a fun site to splore. Sort of slim pickings in FL...
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

You would think so, but I know of a ton of spots in my area (Ft. Lauderdale/Miami) that I just simply don't have many pictures of. I plan on going out to a spot that was supposedly an old military installment of some kind (during Cuban Missile Crisis era) this weekend at the request of another member who lives across the country. I hope to help build the south-east Florida community in a respectful way that won't disturb cool historical and abandoned sites. I have some old photos of random abandoned sites, but I'm unsure how interested people would be in seeing them because they're not huge complexes.

Military and old space sites are potentially prime locations... as for interest level see what others are posting and the reactions. A site can be small but still interesting. Personally I prefer military and industrial sites.

I definitely agree! There's a lot of old historical sites down here; however, they may see small or uninteresting to many users. I've been checking out a lot of other posts and trying to get an idea of what everyone wants to see. I hope to find a few people in the area that may not post or are posting in an area of the site I'm not familiar with yet. Thanks for all the help, I really like how open everyone is here and thats what prompted me to make the account.

If a site has an interesting history that adds to the pics. I've explored many sites that time had reduced to the foundations. These usually aren't good photography subjects but still interesting to me. I like old RR water/coal bunkers and track infrastructure, many times you find the remains of factories, quarries etc they supplied off the tracks and spurs.

Hi Bored AF Pic #1: WOW - that's the coolest - and "trippiest" - pic I have seen in awhile. I absolutely LOVE it. Makes me dizzy to look at. FUN stuff! Welcome!
