high school drop out, now magically [read: worked my ass off and a lot of good luck] finishing my master's from an ivy league next week. About to be a policy analyst for poverty and workforce development programs at a nonprofit. Used to be a lobbyist for the ACLU, before that worked on a Congressional campaign (won!) and for a few senators. been a ride.

No magic there, my friend. Well done. I’m a policy nerd myself (MPA) if you ever want to talk shop.

According to my customers I'm a liar and a thief.

In reality I'm a mechanic.

A quick update.

I have taken a position with a consulting company as a business analyst. There is funding for two years, with a possible extension to four years. It's a pretty sweet gig since my salary is in addition to my retirement pay.

It will give me the opportunity to do a few things that I wouldn't be able to otherwise. I'll also be able to set some money aside for my kids when I move into the next dimension.

Oh man...you have no idea how right you are. Once I processed a homicide at a hoarder house; thank god it happened in the yard but I still had to photo-document the interior (per policy/best practices). Grime City!

Another one (non-fatal elder neglect) in a hoarder house that had been "cleaned up" but the human feces that had soaked through the bed and into the floor left quite the impression.

Nice, congrats!!

I'm an IT Business Analyst and Project Manager.
Have an undergrad in accounting and was hired at my current company almost 21 years ago as an applications analyst on their financial system.
10 years later they paid for my post graduate masters in business analysis certificate and few years after that a CSM and PMP certification.
Last year I moved across the country and switched to a contract position with the same company. I now do the same job I've done for years from the comfort of my home office, usually in my pj's

Meanwhile in the wonderful world of broadcasting...

I didn't broadcast engineers were in short supply, but IPR has been advertising an engineering position for a month and so far, no takers.

It's just a 50KW AM station and a few FM stations as well as a few translators. No TV even though there is a low band batwing on top of the AM stick. All of the STLs are over IP. No microwave links. Nothing super complicated.

Maybe they're being too picky.

Not one myself, but I've heard that pizza delivery and uber drivers are both jobs that can make it easier to find abandoned locations, by sheer virtue of the amount of ground you cover just in a day's work.
