Apple II Computers (1977) Found in Abandoned School

I thought these machines were really cool. However, I did not know that these computers were Apple IIs at the time of this photo. This model is one of Apple's first computer products. And they're in remarkable shape (for being in an abandoned school). Photos taken by Max Power on iPhone 6.

Take nothing but Nazi VHS tapes, leave nothing but footprints, drink nothing but Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends.

I can't believe that these haven't been destroyed yet. Glad somebody was able to capture them before they are. Thanks for sharing!

They say I gotta respect the system, but there ain't no respect in that system for me.

No problem! I've been to many places that have been heavily vandalized, yet the most interesting, historic, or cool artifacts haven't been touched or destroyed. It seems as though sometimes even the most destructive of vandals still find appreciation in these awe-inspiring artifacts.

Not always the case sadly, but I've seen many super interesting things left behind in insanely vandalized places. That was a super cool find! I'd be interested to see if they work lol. Any more shots from that place?

I would love to get my hands on a working one because they are expansive to buy and those look grate considering the state of the building, just give them a wash and they would look just about new!

When I was in elementary school they had some iMac G3s and in the kindergarten section. By the time I realized what they actually were I was graduating. (yes, they called 5th grade a graduation. for some kids it was there only one)

Is it just me or does this scene make no fucking sense?

Paint and material vandalism all around the classroom, but none to the easiest and most-prominent items in the room. Especially weird since everyone is keen to see a CRT implosion.

No outlets for the computers to plug into.

The floppy drives are disconnected.

As somebody who actually learned LOGO and BASIC on an Apple IIe back-in-the-day... nobody would put those on flimsy student desks. In real dollars each was worth as much as a mid-range server today. They were always on dedicated 'computing furniture', often with a typist's document stand (because document/data transmission was more-often-than-not PAPER) and always an office chair (because word processing was the killer app).

Argh, I know for many of you, that computer system looks ancient, but PLEASE be gentle with us old people, who can remember salivating over it when it first came out, complete with the massive 64KB of RAM...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_IIe

Assuming those computers still survive intact, someone needs to make an anonymous tip to the school district or whoever owns the old school that they're sitting there, starting to be worth some $$ & staring to have some historic significance, even if just refurbished & put on-display in schools so that the current generation can see how us old-timers did work & amused ourselves when not outside our caves hunting dinosaurs for dinner.

That Apple ][e, which was a family Christmas gift back around 1982, saved me dozens of hours by allowing me to save in electronic form, research papers I wrote for high school classes, and after maybe an hour or two of freshening one up on the computer, print it out & re-submit it for a college class.

Surely such a revered and experienced MyTweetFaceInstaTube explorer wouldn't stage a shot or embellish on his findings for likes.... Bite your tongue!

Nice photos, but I would put my bottom dollar on it being a set up.
Those computers would have been smashed 100 times over.

More and more people are starting to think that this was set up. I wouldn't be surprised if it was, but where did the computers come from to begin with? I feel like if they were just sitting in a closet they'd still probably be smashed up. It looks like this school is pretty frequented so it seems likely that if they were stashed away somewhere they would eventually be found and smashed. But it also makes no sense for Max or someone else to just have these sitting around.
Whatever the actual reason that they're there is, let's just hope that they don't get smashed now.

I would love to imagine that vandals are gracious enough to leave these computers intact. Maybe it is set up but seeing these computers is crazy cool.
