Except not the buildings people usually do...
...And it wasn't without some close calls. Nearly got seen through a window as security was driving around the place at the wee hour of 6 AM, thankfully he was more focused on slowly hopping the curb to drive around the back through the grass than looking through the windows, where I stood frozen trying not to make any slight movement. A cop then decided to park right in the front parking lot as I was getting ready to leave. Waited on him to move for about an hour and a half before deciding that where he was parked was a little lower elevation than where the only entrance/exit I could find was, that if I belly crawled up the stairs and around the corner of the building he wouldn't see me. Thankfully he didn't and I GTFO'd off property. Not entirely convinced this particular building was worth the hassle, most areas were completely uninteresting and samey, almost nothing left in the form of furniture or equipment. At least I didn't end up spending time in general population like some other people here have had the unfortunate luck of doing.

Too bad it was so stripped out and sterile. At least you didn't end up like that cat. The benches, fire door art/wish and peeling paint are cool. Plus you got your adrenaline fix for free
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

Wow good job dude!

Nice pics and cool story! I've been wanting to go there for a while.

Nice stuff and great photos! I always wondered what the inside of those larger modern buildings there looked like. We actually got sealed inside (kind of) when I was there. Maintenance rolled up while I was in and nailed a fresh board on an open window as I hid in a closet. Thankfully that wasn't actually the way we took so we were still able to exit.

Glad you got out and didn't get spotted! Why do you think security is so tight?

Have you seen the place? I don't know the exact reasons but it's a massive complex (by my standards at least) that closed down quite recently. Not sure if the state still owns it but I wouldn't doubt it. OP, I read somewhere that the prison farm is being torn down. Does that include this whole complex or just that one thing. I don't know enough about the area so I don't even know if the farm is part of this.

I wasn't there... but personally I think the experience and excitement was worth it. Image 2... is a good shot.

I've never been to the prison farm since now it's a hotbed for cops and the risk isn't worth the reward but I don't think this is part of the farm. Google has pretty good pics of the farm: https://tinyurl.com/ybk4kwy9

You made some great photos from all the peeling paint along with the hallways and corridors. Sounds like an interesting adventure, but good that you were able to make it out on your terms.
Still working on it... Until then IG: @the_digital_cow |

awwwwweeee poor kitty in number 4. It clearly didn't have your belly crawling skills and didn't make it out on time. Glad you did though! Your prose was perfect and the mental image of your belly crawl to get out made me snort/laugh ....I got coffee all over my desk. LOL!

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time. Z.B.S. Halevi -- Kabbalah |

Agreed. The area featured in Image 2 would be one of those places I'd be set up doing exposure bracketing / focus bracketing so I could mess around with it more in post-processing. I'd also spend more time than I should probably admit taking up-close exposure bracketed shots of the peeling paint from different angles just to capture that texture. All-in-all, Great! LOLOLOL! You say that like I disappear for months at a time.............................wait.................................yep, sorry In my defense, I got moved to a new unit at work and its all emergency based public health response. We have been record setting busy the past two years - which is why I was "voluntold" into this unit. Yeah - there really is not an excuse. I just suck. sorry
