To the OP Hoping you will take this advice kindly... As someone who posts to multiple sites and multiple audiences and platforms, I have learned a few things about how to appeal to them all in different ways. You can't talk to UER the way you talk to Youtube, you can't talk to youtube the way you talk to facebook, you can't talk to facebook the way you talk to instagram and you can't talk to Reddit at all!! Know your platforms, know the respective audiences and know what makes them each tick. UER wants to see photos and an embedded video and they want to know about the explore, the experience, maybe some history. Facebook wants to see things that make them reminisce of the old days YouTube likes sensationalism, big video captions, collaborations etc Reddit doesn't like anything but a simple caption, maybe 1 or 2 crossposts and SOMETIMES they are okay with you putting links to see more in the comments section. Every platform has a different mood and I have by no means mastered them...but I've picked up a few things in my experiences with them all. that's my $.02

Judging by atu's ability to come up with excuses and deflect the majority of the advice given here, this is probably a lost cause, but I just want to say a couple things in the event this gets the lock. Naming locations is ALWAYS bad. Nothing good can come of it. Even if the place is already popular, it can always get worse. If nothing else you should just practice never name dropping, even for the most over run location, just out of principle. It sets a good example.
Posted by Among The Unknown 1. It’s not spamming. It’s sharing...Think of TV commercials that say to call a number, you have the option to call the number or not. It’s up to you. Say you go to the store and the cashier asks if you want to donate a dollar to charity, you have the option to donate or not. It’s the same difference.

It's hilarious that you try to argue you are not promoting anything, then you go and compare what you are doing to a commercial. Promoting, spamming, sharing. Call it what ever you want, but at the end of the day the things you are doing do nothing to help the hobby or community. They only stand to increase the hobbies popularity and make it even more accessible to incautious idiots who would otherwise have no interest in exploring or people with less ethics who will inevitably leave a place in a worse state than when they arrived. Both of those cases increase the odds of places getting sealed or demo'd. Even if your videos don't lead to this directly, they only stand to increase exploring's popularity which can never be a good thing. It's true you're not alone in this and other people do worse things, but you are indeed adding to it. And trust me, I as well as other explorers say these same things to them.
Posted by Among The Unknown 2. I’ll and the rest of the ATU crew be more careful about the locations and naming them and everything else from now on.

Thank you

Just dropped another on Saturday. He's going to namedrop regardless of what people say.

Posted by Among The Unknown Also, its not spamming, its called promoting. Promoting my video on subreddits that are intended for that purpose. What am I supposed to do? Just post in 1 subreddit and call it a day? I'm using what a subreddit is intended for. To share videos of my exploration. SO what if my only purpose of even using reddit these days is to promote my videos and share my music that I produce when I release them. Who cares.

Depends who else is in the woods...

Just found his merchandise page, where he sells the standards with ATU MSPaint'd onto them. Then his Patreon. "I don't care about fame. That's the least of my concerns." "Obviously not doing it for the money either."

So much for not trying to monetize urban exploration.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. | |
