So I've always been very fascinated with exploring and decided to finally dabble in it myself. Unfortunately none of my friends care to join me. Would love to go with people who have done this before. Anyone interested??? Also as a quick disclaimer bc I know someone in the comments will say this, no I didn't make this post as a "quick way" to find places. As most of you know exploring alone can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Just trying to find some new friends with similar interests :3

For what it's worth, I go alone pretty regularly. A female alone is an unusual kind of camouflage. I bring mace and a knife, but I've never run into trouble, apart from one very feisty owl.

Wow. I'm afraid to do that. Last time I went with one friend, and we decided to keep it a really short explore because we felt unsafe and wanted at least one more person, just in case someone fell through a floor or needed some sort of help. It's so much easier for two people to carry someone out, or for one person to stay with the injured to render emergency aid and the other to run for help. Of course, this was at night, and I have since been told by members here that as intuitive as lurking under the cover of darkness may seem, it isn't really a good idea. Also, I'm usually more afraid of environmental hazards than I am of other people, which, again, might not be the most correct line of thinking, given the context.

I was actually just having this conversation with somebody the other day. I go alone and find it better in some instances. I can understand the fear of being a woman alone but at the same time, fear is often just a result of irrational thinking. Environmental hazards are a definite thing though.

Same here. Exploring in large groups just increases the risk of being seen. Since it's getting warmer I might eventually be up for revisiting some spots around Atlanta and seeing what is still accessible.

I'm in Gwinnett and Sandy Springs, all points in between and love hitting the southside of town when time allows.

I go alone too, that is, when I've gone out. I've also gone with my daughter (she's 18). As I've gotten older, more entrenched in my job and with a lot more to lose, I have to settle for seeing other's explores. Its hard to find places I can legally explore. Note - my job requires me to keep a clean criminal record, so I always have to make sure I ask for permission or its CLEARLY open and abandoned. It is possible, but I think I have exhausted these places in North Atl. Keep posting pic's y'all. Its much appreciated!
