Secretly still hoping that I'll be able to see it in two weeks.

Wouldn't recommend even trying. The structure has gotta be so unstable a mouse could tip it over.

It may have survived the demolition attempt, but they used explosive charges. Nothing comes out of that unscathed. If you do attempt to explore it, keep in mind that it is likely to be the most structurally unsound building you'll ever explore. Treat it accordingly.

well I guess it was stable enough for the demo crews to go back in and place a second volley of charges, its down but not completely rubble-ized like we have come to expect in a high rise implosion for eg.

this thing was a rock

At what cost is it worth exploring? Amazing that the stadium did not collapse but still it can come down anytime. I would not explore something that unstable even if it was built like a rock. I pray this place does not take someone’s life. To explore a place that has already been laced with and exploded with explosives is just unsettling for me. Please if you choose to explore it use EXTEME CAUTION. I do not recommend anyone going in but hey that’s just me and my two cents.

I appreciate the warning but I doubt you will need to worry too much about that. When they do a big implosion like this (successful or unsuccessful) generally they exclude everyone well prior to placing the explosives, including all the brave urbexers, i.e. nobody is getting close to it without some damn good ID or credentials from the contractor or the cops. Trust me I watched one for 24hrs before it went boom boom boom boombaboom...

The biggest risk was to the guys that had to walk back in after the failure, drill new holes and place new charges. No thanks but hey, they screwed up and somebody gotta make it happen. Typically an engineer makes the decisions on which load bearing columns or structures get broken in what sequence and where, a demo expert then determines how much pop each wall or support column requires based on size, rebar and weight on top. Their goal is to use as little as possible but still result in controlled collapse.

Kind of ironic the charges did not produce the expected result the first time. I guess it just had to let Lions fans down one last time....
