or you have two people to hide behind while the army of undead homeless people attack. Gives you time to escape. After all, there can be only one.

I'm sure if you just drop a bunch of money/food/cigarettes it'd have a similar effect as a bile bomb from Left 4 Dead 2. Save your explorers for when you run out.

Left 4 Dead 2.

I still have that game.

Personally, I go with a trusted friend All my other friends are very incompetent when it comes to this type of stuff so it's usually just us two
Edit: Actually you should bring one more person, just in case someone needs to be sacrificed Or more than three though, greater chance to survive in case of poltergeist

In my opinion more than 4 people is just TOO much and causes attention, but even just 4 is pushing it. I like 2, but just me is perfectly fine in my opinion. Although this is coming from someone who doesn't have many other people to explore with, so take it with a grain of salt.
| |
I say 3-4, but it completely depends on who the people are.
| |
Preferably myself or with one other person. When you have a large group you End up taking abunch of pictures that are similar to the rest of The group
| |
The biggest group I've gone with was 8 people, and we went 4 at a time with walkie talkies. 4 were look-outs in the car, and then we switched when we were ready. But usually I go with 3-4 trusted people, even though the 8 people thing was very organized.

"My shadow's the only one that walks beside me" XD I stay solo. People just get in the way and increase the chance of getting caught. Plus if I do get caught I figure I've got a better chance of getting away, or talking my way out of it if it's just me.

I prefer 4. A Tank, One Ranged Hero, one Support (Cleric or Paladin), and finally one magic user (I prefer sourcerers over wizards.)
We are going to inherit the earth . There is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie may blast and burn its own world before it finally leaves the stage of history. We Are not afraid of ruins. We who ploughed the prairies and built the cities can build again, only better next time. We carry a new world, here in our hearts. That world is growing this minute.
I have a trusted group of two other people. Any more than 3 and it's just too many people for a lot of locations. Bigger groups tend to scatter anyways.

I just did my first tunnel explore last month. I just went by myself and really enjoyed it. I only had to worry about myself, I feel pretty confident in most situations and find I work better alone, even though it would be nice to have one or maybe two other trusted people. I work in a busy, high stress job so the quiet was welcomed and the complete darkness (after turning off all my flashlights) was a great experience. My next tunnel explore I plan on doing alone and then go back again with maybe another person. There are several tunnels around here with a lot of satanic imagery and burnt candles, these ones I will NOT be entering alone.

+1 is a bit low for CHA, don't you think? I've always thought that CHA was right up there with DEX, INT, and WIS in terms of necessary stats for the Urban Explorer class. DEX for climbing, INT for finding locations/points of entry, WIS for judging the safety of any given endeavor, and CHA for talking your way in or out of a location and completing Persuasion or Deception checks against the local guards. CON is nice if you have the spare points, but a sufficiently high WIS should keep you from needing to make any CON saving throws- except in the case of airborne hazards, but equipping the "Respirator" item usually can negate those. STR of course is the dump stat- Urban Explorers are a subclass of Rogue after all.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

Jeez, what levels are you dudes at? lol Or is your level dictated by your time star? LATER ADDED I won't go exploring by myself. Not in New Orleans. If I went out of town, sure. But not in New Orleans. There is absolutely way too much shit going on in this tiny little city to go anywhere by yourself, let alone an abandoned building. Anybody who down-plays that is being ignorant and negligent to their fellow explorer. If you've ran solo in NOLA before, good on ya. Don't do it, again. This place isn't a stranger to the fucked up "chance card" pile you obligatorily have to pull from. My advise for New Orleans is at least have a single buddy watching your back at all times. I mean, dude. There could be a cottonmouth literally anywhere, there could be a junkie who wanders into a place and bumps right into you. There could be a dude walking around looking for somebody to rob cuz his grandma is sick and needs medicine and all he knows is the thug life. It's real, dude. ALWAYS have a buddy, here.

Why are you being all condescending and sneering there Specter? Not everyone on this forum lives in New Orleans, from what I've heard about that city I wouldn't go exploring alone either. I know my city VERY well and ALWAYS feel safe, there are no cottonmouths or poisonous snakes in general on the Island I live on. If I didn't feel safe exploring tunnels alone then I wouldn't do it, simple as that. I don't need some dude on the other side of the continent questioning my abilities, being all condescending, and lecturing me like a child. Reading your post, it seems like you are the one harbouring a lot of fear and paranoia. I'm older than you and more street smart than you. GUARANTEED. Cheers, CMF

I wasn't even addressing a person, here. I'm using personal opinion to enforce the idea that you just shouldn't. I would just like you to read my post again, but this time having been assured that I'm speaking in generality with the purpose to express just how dangerous it is here. But since you took exception to it, I apologize for leading you to believe otherwise. Was it was because of the "what level are you guys at" comment? I was just trying to pitch in with the Dungeons and Dragons jokes.

New Orleans isn't any worse than shitholes in the NE. Plenty of us have gone alone into them. Numbers don't guarantee nothing except more visibility. If an area is so bad you feel you need more people, weapons... avoid it. As for snakes, stateside there are no aggressive venomous snakes. Bite stats prove it. A defensive display is not being aggressive; simply back away. The fact that they warn you like this makes them less dangerous. The cotton mouth in spite of it's reputation has one of the lowest kill and bite rates. Leave them alone and you'll be fine. Do not handle them; that can provoke a strike.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
Not concerned about snakes at all, as stated there are no venomous snakes on my Island at all. Just little garter snakes and red racers. CMF
