I have a friend that's a lesbian transwoman. She has been complaining about not being able to find a relationship. She says that lesbian ciswomen aren't interested and other transwomen are only interested for about 5 minutes. I am at a total loss for what to say to her about her predicament. Any ideas?

Bisexual or Pansexual (among a few others)women would definitely be into that. If I must identify my sexuality, I am pansexual and find transpeople just as attractive as I find cisgender people. I can see where her dilemma would be, especially if she's pre-op (or has no intention of getting bottom surgery). In my experience bisexual people aren't always as forthcoming with their sexuality due to society trying to de-legitimize it as just a desire to be "slutty" or whatever other bullshit they come up with. I am going to go ahead and assume that she's not had bottom surgery, which is what would deter a cis lesbian, so forgive me if that's incorrect. Often times bi and pan women like women and men (even if there is a preference towards one gender) and it would mean that they would likely be comfortable with the idea and desire for someone who is a woman but would be comfortable "handling" a penis. It's a tricky situation but let her know she needn't give up, there are people out there who will love her and desire her, they just might be harder to find than it might be if she was a cis woman.

Thanks! I messaged her with some genuine words of encouragement.
