Is it okay to magically resurrect a thread from a long time ago?

I was digging around in some of the boards and I saw a post I wanted to reply to a post from 2012. Go/no go?

Are we living a life that is safe from harm? Of course not, we never are. But that's not the right question. The question is, are we living a life that is worth the harm?

I'm going by general forum etiquette and not this site's rules. Usually it's fine if you have something relevant to add, but it depends. If you're replying to a specific person, who knows if they'll even see it? Chances are it's not worth a necro.

Yes, but only if it's done magically.

I think Av may have dramatically extended how long it takes for a thread to get archived now.

I do this all the time. Although on UER I typically can find something pretty recent that is relevant to my question, or at least close that allows for a segue.

I'd say that's pretty much your preference (resurrection vs. new). Just be sure to do a search first if you want to start a new thread so you don't end up repeating a current one. That's a good way to piss off the admins because they then get to merge your thread with the other similar one (this means more more work for them).
On the same note, pay attention to which forum you're posting in and try your best to post in the right spot.
Common sense will make both of these points easy to determine your best course of action at least 99% of the time. For that ambiguous 1% just ask someone before posting.

Is the topic "timeless" and informative? If so, please resurrect it instead of making another thread.

Is it "conversation"? No.
