Does anyone have a clue what this mysterious hatch could be?

Weird...

2.

EDIT: If it helps, I have been in the basement of this very small building and I see no access to it from the inside. At first I was thinking boiler hatch but this building does not seem to have any heating system in the basement (I can't get to the upstairs at the moment). It was never intended to be occupied for any period of time so the only way it would make sense to have heat is if they were tapping into the steam lines decades ago.

Are we living a life that is safe from harm? Of course not, we never are. But that's not the right question. The question is, are we living a life that is worth the harm?

It's a bell tower. Standalone, simply to play chimes every few hours.

Coal Chute?

yes of course a coal fired bell tower :\

my only guess is an after thought access port in case something dropped in the bottom or the rope got tangled it still doesn't make sense really

the door assy is fabricated look at the hinges and welds, the construction rough cut out frame maybe a re-purposed round tank cover for the door itself but definitely shop built / low skilled craftsmanship

It looks like it was fixed to a doorway that was bricked up at some point after the construction of the tower, but I'm stumped. Unless the bricked up doorway used to lead to something underground.

You've checked from the basement and saw nothing. Pretty sure Mookster is right in that something else was there before that was installed. My guess is it leads to a crawl space separate from the basement. It was probably something they had laying around or was easy to fabricate (poorly as previously said) to make a secure opening for the rare time they need access.

Coal Chute?

Doubtful as there is no way to keep it closed other than bolts. This was to allow access, but only sparingly.

Well I guess we have determined that it’s probably boring but also probably worth popping open. Tell me if my logic is flawed but I am allowed to be on the property and if I took the bolts off that are rusty and replaced them with better ones then I wouldn’t actually be doing anything illegal because criminal mischief and vandalism both deal with damaging property. Or am I an idiot? 😂

^this^ Open it.
My guess is it's a hellhole access door
Be careful, the air inside may not support life if it's a sealed confined space. If so at least let it air out a bit before entering.

See... I always think about this doing UrbEx... Movies man. They've jacked me up. "Hey, let's go explore this old ammo plant!" But wait.. what if there's a secret underground bunker and we run into a tactical team and we get kidnapped and used for experimentation and never get out and no one knows where we are and ...

Or in this situation: "Hey, let's open this creepy rusted metal porthole to somewhere." But...

I have a source that I go to for all these mysteries.

Really darn reliable too.

Anyway, my source just called me back after talking to his cousin, who talked to his roommate, Jasen Dostaviti, about this "hatch"

It is in fact a cover that was put into place. What lies behind is in fact a large void, but what feeds into this void is exhaust from various locations.

This void used to house lots or sensitive equipment. Air scrubbers, purifiers, lots of lab stuff for testing air quality and equipment needed to remove particulates that may or may not have found there way here via a particular wormhole that lies somewhere deep under Texas soil.

Besides servicing the location in Texas, yes, this was also tied to other locations hat I have already spoken about.

I will not jeopardize my families safety by saying any more.
