Hello World. New user, longtime explorer. What's in your bag?

Hello all, I'm Mold and I've been exploring for about ten years now. I'm born and raised in the Atlanta area and have been in and out of many buildings throughout the years.
What's in your bag? I'm curious to see what everyone else has packed, maybe we can compare and learn from each other and become safer and well rounded explorers.
1.
The bag, just an old jansport that has held up to some serious abuse.

2.
What's inside My hammock and associated accessories, mag light, 3M mask, snacks and, the go bag.

3.
The go bag is what contains the basics for any infiltration long or short.
Gloves, first aid kit, doorstop, flashlight and headlamp batteries for both. The lighter is for cigarettes to give to bums, they tend to be a bit more friendly when you give em a port or two.

Any feed back is welcome, feel free to share what's in your bag. Lets start a conversation to learn from each other and become safer, and well prepared explorers.

Regards, Mold.

First aid kit is always a good idea. I probably should carry one in my purse, but I don't.

I'd recommend a cell phone and a power bank (I'm a big fan of the brand Anker). If you need a call or quick snap, a cell phone can save your ass. Also pretending to talk on it while scouting or acting as look out works very well. There are some neat tricks for that.

What a nice first post.

I am at work and don't have my gear with me, but this is a good idea. Safety is important.

I carry micro sampling equipment, water, bug spray, bandaids and my phone with back up charger. I bring nitrile gloves as part of my sampling gear, but I think your idea of thicker gloves would be smart. Not sure I ever brought snacks, but hey, gotta love the thought there. Just usually don't want to eat in those places.....they are stinky and whatnot. I'm still a girl.

Always a good idea to bring even a small bit of food anywhere you go. Even just a pack of fruit snacks thrown into the purse. Blood sugar drops can happen to anyone.

I do not know where my reply to this went........I'm having that kind of day.

I was just saying I will start packing snacks. Small ones anyway, I can carry a protein bar. I usually keep one at work for emergencies - I wish the work me was the everywhere me bc work me is so damn organized.

Good point about the blood sugar though.

Would be nice to have an inventory of my supplies...

[Off flag]
  • Slut bag.

    • Two outfits, one of which I could care nothing about and toss if needed.
    • Two pair of socks.
    • Hair Brush.
    • Dry Shampoo.
    • Deodorant.
    • Toothbrush.
    • Toothpaste.

  • Pair of 'converse' shoes.
  • Pair of boots, steel toed.

    [On Flag, Left Side]
  • All Powerful Clipboard.
  • Hard Hat.
  • 'Work' Gloves.
  • Tripod.
  • Box of Disposable Gloves.
  • One of many Multi-Tools.

    [On Flag, Right Side]
  • Camera Bag.

    • Camera. Canon, EOS T6.
    • Lenses and Lens Covers.
    • Where I normally keep snacks.
    • Water Bottle.
    • Phone Chargers, both Portable and Wall, with Cable.
    • Spare Camera Battery Charger and Battery.
    • Lens Cleaning Equipment.
    • Extra Memory Cards.

  • Face Mask and New Filters.
  • Ear Buds. Great for scouting, as the universal symbol for 'leave me alone.'
  • Pocket Screwdrivers.
  • Flashlights.
  • Lighter(s).

Of course, not everything goes with me every time, not every tool is listed. Not comfortable sharing my beloved 'Master Key' on a public thread.

Worth noting that when I switch from my daily carry bag (known by others as a "purse"), I'll stash photo id somewhere in my camera bag. Better to have identification just in case, than to not have it and potentially risk more problems.

Also, I think my flag is cooler. =P

But if you are going artsy, then you're going all the way. Someone's cutting off an ear!

    damn............I've been schooled.

I like to follow the philosophy of "better to have and not need then to need and not have", though now it dawns on me now that I didn't explain my reasoning of the slut bag.

I kinda have this habit where if time permits, I just go. Scouting, exploring, sightseeing, what have you. I'm gone.

Sometimes I may find myself wanting to change just because; was cold before, now I'm not, or visa versa. It rained and now my socks are wet and that's just not okay. Whatever the need may be.

Sometimes the odds are not in my favor and find myself needing to freshen up at a truck stop on my way into work. Wasn't a huge need as a tech before, but since my career change, I know my coworkers would prefer me to not be stinky.

    (excuse my shitty bed)
My bag has 6 pockets and two side pockets for water bottles.

    In the bag:

Some sort of long sleeved overshirt to protect myself from terrible Florida mosquitos (my go to is button up flannels because I have over ten of them)

The black case in front of the bag is my tripod.

Tick repellent. sometimes I go to ghost town locations with tall grass that ticks love to hide in. They also carry Lyme Disease, which is pretty hard to get rid of.

Extra water. Florida is hot as hell, sometimes the temperature is in the 90s here.

Some snacks, throw the wrappers back in your bag.

My camera, which is pretty obvious.(Canon Powershot SX 400 IS, good little camera, never had a problem with it and had it for over two years)

    Things I'm going to get:

    3M 7500 Series Half Facepiece Respirator: https://www.pksafe...ce-respirator.html

3M 7093 P100 Particulate Filter (for the above mask): https://www.pksafety.com/3m70p1fi.html

Uvex Classic Goggles S350 (can fit over prescription glasses): https://www.pksafety.com/uvs3clas.html

Also going to get a pair of good gloves.
