Day Trip.

Not to long ago I was gifted a non-paid, mandatory vacation day from work. Took a day trip out to Jax and got some exterior shots. From the street, everything somehow smelled like piss, so I'm perfectly content with exteriors. For the moment.

Enjoy.

Someone didn't want their sandwich...

Interesting, whats going on in the 2nd photo was another building next to it or a stairwell / fire escape demolished? something seems amiss..

Fire escape was removed.

That building was apartments in the 1920's, turned hotel, turned trap house. After one to many drug raids, and code violations, the city condemned it. Now it sits vacant and for sale thanks to it being placed on the National Register of Historic Places. There have been many attempts to restore and renovate the building into condos and the like, but none have actually managed to go through.

Info kinda dwindles there, I imagine they removed the fire escapes around the same time the plexiglass barriers were installed. =/

Mmmmmmm

Looks like a lot of potential here. I like that tree growing out of the side of the building.

What he said.

"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" has been replaced by "A Tree Grows in Jacksonville......straight outta a window". Interesting........

Too bad there isn't smell-o-vision to include the lovely aroma of uric acid meets funky bacteria bc I'm sure that's quite the olfactory party!~

Agreed, from other angles, it looks like a few of the floors may have been completely taken over by vegetation.

Oh girl you don't even know, I still cringe at the memory. I don't even know how but it managed to smell similar to a dog park; somehow fresh and stale all at once. But clearly not of canis familiaris variety. D=

Yea, it honestly took me a minute to see that it was a sandwich. At first, I didn't want to try and guess what it could have been. And thanks! I will, just being overly critical of my shots while still learning my camera/post. Fun times, lol.

Tyty! My first thought on seeing em was, "Damn, would be awesome to have a grappling gun like Rorschach's from Watchmen right about now"
