The Nitrogen Bomb

A contractor using a junk house for storage, or a sleeper cell living on take-out food and stock-piling fertilizer until they just recently loaded it all into the back of a cube van and drove off. This is Canada - that shit doesn't happen!

I have driven by this QEW house repeatedly for the past 6 months, watching it decline in exterior condition. I made a stop the other day with more official looking clothing all, feeling a bit more comfortable in the eyes of a business sitting right next door. I made a big production of taking out my keys and fumbling with the lock like I belonged there, only to go inside and find the entire back of the house ripped wide open. When I stepped in, I immediately lost my footing and starting rolling across the floor tiles, wondering what the heck all the little white granules were that were spilled all over the floor and causing me to lose friction. The house is absolutely covered in fertilizer pellets. Cup-of-soup and Tim Horton's containers are everywhere and clothes are just stuffed in corners in little piles. There is really no evidence of any furnishings and the walls are unmarked, as if no pictures or decorations were ever hung. It isn't a very interesting post visually, but that's precisely the point: it is the sterile look of this place that makes it all the more WTF-ish.

But there's a Christmas tree in the garage, so maybe we're ok.

PS: I brought home a container of that dish-sink quagmire and will be opening my own Soup Nazi location at Yonge and Wellesley.
Come in for a taste of Toronto's best secret recipe!

Great find! Nice to see a non-tagged or graffitied location once in a while.

That's a lot of fertilizer. I'd consider calling that in.

Nothing says home like urea* on the floor

*it is basically pointless and wasteful to weaponize it when you can make better higher explosives with nitric acid.
It is however an excellent nitrogen source for plants.

Ya, I'd say someone who more than 'looks' official needs to make a pass on that place, haha. The business next door may have had a bad feeling about this place, but when they saw you go in, perhaps they assumed that it's being taken care of. So, your duplicity may have stalled necessary action. Tricky situation, but sometimes we run into stuff that needs to be reported.

Cool shots !

Report it? Hell no!
Sounds like an Easter egg hunt to me
Just hope it isn't false advertising.

In reference to pic 07 and 08, all that kitty litter. Worked at a gas station in my younger days, kitty litter was used to contain and clean up spilled gasoline. Gas + fertilizer == ..... Anyways, just ticks off another box on the 'this should be reported' list.

Awesome stuff as usual GS, and thankfully the grenade was inactive and just an army surplus store keepsake.

All I can say is "mmm, mmm, good." Nothing quite like some decay-soup.

Seriously, though: seeing that torn-off 1990s Ford Explorer front bumper made me think of some para-military death squad, making 'splodey things by day, and piling into a truck by night... spooky shit.

Anyway. Solid post!
