Today I found myself with a bit of extra time so I decided to take a mini day trip with a friend of mine! The place had a gorgeous ocean view and was covered in graffiti, but it was certainly a nice way to spend the afternoon. The place was once used as an old battery training camp as well as for coastal defense. It was used way back in the Revolutionary War up through WWII. 1.

That's the smaller part of that fort, actually. The other part (a bit east and not directly connected) is triple the size and has a bunch of neat tunnels you can explore.

Yep! I love this place~ My university's clubs have a few excursions there every year, it's so relaxed as far as abandoned places go. No security because it's just open to the public, and great views everywhere!
