Private thread question

I searched for this and didn't find this exact piece of info so here goes: as a basic member can I create private threads?

Thanks!

You can create the thread, then ask a moderator via the "Contact a moderator" section (see my signature) to have the thread switched to private.

No problem!

Just PM me once the thread is created and I'll mark it as private.

Good question, BTW. I wouldn't have known the answer to that one.

^ Understandable. It's a special case that usually happens when a new member posts a thread on a topic the community deems sensitive. Whenever a thread is switched from public to private, the OP and any non-full-members that have posted in it to that point continue to be able to see and post in that thread.

Exactly.
The web spiders never sleep.

There are lots of places that aren't sensitive, I would play it safe if you're just learning this site and it's culture.
Post in the right forums; if in doubt post in this forum or your regional forum.
Try to avoid posting threads that need moved or that will get locked

Thanks everyone for jumping in with info; I found I could make a thread and then mark it private after I posted it. So there is a way to make a private post for basic members! But I think only in the regional forums.

Most times either in regional or in the Rookies forum is where they belong.
Even I rarely post a thread in the Main forum *hint*; don't post trash or misappropriated threads there.
The forums are self explanatory; read before you post.
