I just love driving down the back roads and looking around. Down in my area there are always places to see. I was not in so much an exploring mood as I was just a driving, relaxing, enjoying the peace of the back roads mood. I'll save the fence climbing for another day.
I only spent about four ours out and about, but found some nice little spots, and some to return to in the future.
There was this little country church, I Have some exterior shots, but they are on the other laptop and my wife is using it. I'll stick one on later.
It looked like this church was still being used, but I can not imagine for how much longer. Even if it was not abandoned, I still loved wandering it's space, and imagining all the memories it contained.

There were a couple of houses near the church down a dirt road, not in the mood to climb fences, but I will be revisiting.

I had photographed this place before in the fall, a little warm weather and some rain make a big difference, I'll look to dig up a previous pic of it shortly for comparison.

This house I did go into. Not much to see, looked like a portion of the house had fallen or been demolished. Only three rooms standing.

Nice set! Looks like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! It rained here all weekend, so didn't have much motivation to do anything. Looks like a great time! I really like that church. Don't see them like that much around here.

That's a clean ass church. Good job man. Really makes me want to get out and drive along some small towns next week. I've been traveling out of state a lot lately to explore.

Nice shots! That first house you put up has some really interesting woodwork on the front porch trim. You don't see stuff like that anymore...it's a shame it's wasting away.
I always enjoy a good spontaneous find and think it sometimes adds to the fun of the hunt. I generally research the heck out of something before going in, but my last few spots have been found on accident and followed up on later.
I found a spot last week while driving around for an appointment that started off as:
"I should remember where this is"
to:
"I'm just gonna get out and see what it looks like"
to
"well, i guess i'm going in"
I didn't have my camera with me, and (to be honest) it wasn't super fantastic...but I'll probably go back at some point now that i know what i'm up against. (like having the crap scared out of me by a hidden vulture on the other side of the propped open front door)
