Hey I am new to UER and really into URBEX. I was wondering, how to put a place on the map. In my town there is this abandoned building thats been closed for three years. It was a school i went to. Me and my friends really want to get in and were planning on it but i want to know how to put it on the map as a place to find so others can see it and explore the place. Please help.

You REALLY need to be careful with the "sharing" thing. Abandonments have been scrapped, tagged or burned down within days or weeks of the location being publicized. Maybe you and your friends are great people but who knows who they know or what the do with the information. Once it gets out it's impossible to put the toothpaste back into the tube.
As far as your original question, if you can't figure out how to drop a pin on a map maybe a better hobby for you is ceramic painting...

He may be talking about the DB map, http://www.uer.ca/locations/gmaps/ nobody really uses it, he cant add anything to it unless he adds a DB location entry after attaining full membership.
Im going to hold off on speculating as to that possibility since this is his first post.

everyone always says no one uses the DB or the map yet in the past 3 months I've seen more questions come up about the DB and more people admitting to DB usage to create threads on locations that they found using the DB. I wouldn't write it off, it is a tool on this site that I really enjoy and I'm seeing it trend upwards in usage

Lol that upward trend was probably me! I finally got around to checking every location in the US to try to locate it and see if it's still standing or has been repurposed. It was quite the undertaking but I'm glad I finally got around to it. The thing I found most useful was finding other locations in or near the city I was looking at in the database!

Im not writing off the DB, I do suggest the DB map is unreliable and of questionable utility.
User entered coordinates are often wrong either due to ignorance or intentionally deceptive.
Real names are often obscured with generic sounding titles.
The DB is a good resource. The DB map? Not so much.

For starters, only full members can edit the LDB or see all locations. There is an FAQ somewhere around here worth consulting.
