Rusty Old Bridge

I recently went back to this old bridge to take a couple winter shots of it for comparison with my summer shots. Anyone around the RI area should probably recognize this bridge already. Anyway, enjoy the pictures:

Awesome bridge, that last photo really shows it well. The color and shot placement is really well done. It would have been cool if there was the little control room on there, I have always wanted to go in one of those.

Winning is temporary but looking cool is forever! Stay Fresh!

There's a bridge much like this in Maine where ospreys have nests and immigrant fishermen catch fish at night. The old beams are always a trip to try to figure out, as to which is solid or rotten. I imagine this one has a great view if you sit on the end. Nice set.

I wuv RR bridges. Cool

Is that line closed? You could have probably got away with a close up of the bridge.
Walking on the ties is safer than the catwalk on many of those. If so you could really go app shit and get some one of kind shots. Dawn on a Sunday is a good time when people are scarce...

That said don't get by the RR police on active lines... they'll probably write if caught on a bridge.
Workers/engineers may dime you out if they see you.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

That line is thoroughly closed. The bridge has been parked upright like that since before I can remember, one set of tracks was removed many years ago, and the one that's still there continues into an overgrown forest and into a concrete and metal wall that does a poor job of keeping hooligans out of an abandoned tunnel.

Dunno where the other side of the bridge goes.

One of my favorite landmarks in the Providence area. Looks wonderful in the winter time. Anyone ever climb it?

The other side (the East side, which is the side from which I took the last photo) goes through some woods and wetlands with a vague idea of a trail near where the tracks would be. There's a decently sized fence just before the bridge. It's a lot harder to get to than the other side but not too bad.

And yeah, I think the bridge has been in the "up" position since 1976 or sometime around there.

Walking old tracks is fun.
Never know what you will find.
Industry used to build near RR lines.
Always explore old spurs to see what's there.

Nice shots, but whatever you did to resize them is ruining their quality; all of the diagonal lines have sawteeth.
