Curious about your opinion about it as well. Is a DA645 28-45mm f/4.5 in your plans (if not already in your arsenal)?

Good to know (about Sony). Was about to pull the trigger on something Sony. But, I honestly don't see how I can go wrong with the A5100 for cost vs performance considering the sketchy places I shoot.

I use a canon 70D with a rokinon 16mm f2.0. great camera for both photography and filmography. I highly recommend. Moreover, my advice for urbex would be getting a wide angle lens. I also shoot with a 35mm color film Minolta xd-11 i picked up for $20 at a flea market. not the best but it works!

Gots me a Canon 5DMKII.. I've been using it for years though and its starting to get a bit old. Might be time to upgrade soon!

Recently picked up a 5d mk iii, very happy with it due to its supposed durability and the fact that I won't outgrow it anytime soon

I switched from canon to nikon. The quality is much better!

Honestly, I don't agree with the fact that Nikon is better than Canon. Everything depends on the model and on your skills, of course. In the beginning, when I was just an amateur I had a Canon 800D, and it seemed really cool for that period. I took some courses, and I've convinced myself that you can take a really cool picture even if you don't have a professional camera. Still, I do have some goodies in my collection. A few time ago, I bought this one meetingstore.co.uk . I have no words to describe how nice it is.

Posted by jonrev Nikon D3100 + 18-70mm (and a Bower fisheye on occasion) has been my workhorse for the last six years. It's starting to show its age, so I'm thinking of going up to a D750 + 35mm within the next year or so.

Went a way different route than this -- I shoot far more film than digital, now. A pile of 120 film fell into my lap a few years ago and I've largely adopted that as my primary medium. Didn't have anything to shoot with at first, so I modified my Polaroid 600SE to use Mamiya 6x9 backs. Recently replaced by a Mamiya Super 23 so I can use more lenses. In between, I carried an Olympus XA-4 for much of 2019-2020 then found a Yashica T4 at an e-waste dropsite and used that since last year. Recently I had a bargain Rolleiflex restored and will probably start carrying that more, so I can stick to 120.
Posted by jonrev Secondary cameras have always been instant film; lately it's been a Polaroid 195 Land Camera, and some form of folding SX-70 or SLR-680. |
Between finite supply of expired Fuji packfilm, and cost/unreliability of current Polaroid film these have become more special-purpose cameras, but they still come out from time to time.

My go to is my trusty Nikon D5100 and D300. One I normally have a Youngnuo 50mm and the other has my Sigma 17-50mm. Nothing fancy but gets the job done!

For years I used a Nikon D3300 with a Sigma 17-50. Earlier last year I upgraded to a D610, and just recently got a Tokina 24-70 to stick on it. The body was worth it for the features alone, still not sure if the lens was worth the money.
