I came across the TTC's promo video for the Spadina subway extension from Downsview Park Station to Vaughan Metropolitan Station. Its kinda interesting so I figured, I'd share. The extension will officially open end of 2017 (hopefully).

It's like they want it to be explored before opening. Maybe I'll check it out when I'm back in Canada.

It is quite interesting, just definitely don't get caught. If I recall correctly it's a federal offense.

I'd be interested to hear the legal rationale for that belief. I mean, a municipal transit line isn't likely considered to be "federal property" and trespassing is still trespassing - a provincial offense. If you're able to furnish some proof of the heightened charge I'd be very interested to learn the mechanism through which they could somehow elevate the charge. Sure if they catch you with tools, or there's a smashed door or obvious damage you're going to catch a heavier rap, but if they simply find an unlocked door and you with your camera, I can hardly see them making it a "federal crime". Could be wrong though

TTC subway falls under the federal Railway Safety Act and it's requirements, so I would guess that a trespass ticket issued under the RSA is technically a federal crime.

Is the punishment that much more severe than a provincial offence though? You're probably in a better position than most to get some answers....I'd be super curious to know as I've heard much speculation over the years

TBH I think the worse part would be a lifetime ban from the subway ;)

As much as I want to go tunnel running on the TTC after reading Ninjalicious' zine on it, I wouldn't do it because the TTC has really started to crack down on people going places they shouldn't be. I've heard more subway delays lately because of "trespasser at track level", so I wouldn't risk it.
One day I got a good camera. https://www.flickr...hotos/fleetsurbex/ |
