No Escape Room by Ground State Photos, on Flickr
After many years of making annual stops at a well-barricaded rurex drug mansion in Hamilton, I finally found open access to the house on my most recent visit. This was a place I posted many winters ago, after gaining access to the basement and discovering the grocery list of different marijuana strains inventoried on the overhead furnace vents. The industrial-style barn was subdivided into growth rooms, making it look like a decent-sized operation went on there that might never have even officially been busted. Here are 7 pics from that first visit:

Unfortunately, the basement and barn was as far as I got. The door at the top of the basement steps was nailed shut from the other side, and all of the ground floor windows of the house had well-cut boards riveted in place. But it looks like I wasn't the only one who was on a mission to get into this gorgeous-looking mansion; I think someone took a power saw out here this summer. I took the next photo and then went in the front porch only to find a perfectly cut hole right through the main wall of the house. More grow-op evidence was found upon entry - a web of copper wires were strung throughout the main floor just above head level.

That, or he knew I was there and wanted to show me what he thought of my work!

Interesting, i think a group of us stopped by here years ago and had no luck either. Any more shots of that stairway? the railing shot is such a tease! Great addition to the Ontario Location Collective!

What a shame that such a beautiful house was wrecked for such a lackluster purpose. I agree with RRF though, any more staircase shots? Looks like a cool place.

Sadly, this is the only other shot I've got. I don't know why the heck I didn't stand in the corner over there by the door lock and light-paint the stairs from a head-on perspective. All the should-of and could-of that you don't think about until you're back at home and looking at your pics!

Awesome set!! I really like the second winter photo from down the driveway, that sense of anticipation really comes through. I probably wouldn't have even noticed those lists on the vents or the outlets. Good eye and good on you for checking often! Places get open and sealed within a day sometimes.

These shots make me as happy as ScoobyDoooooo! love the snowy scene, #10, and the crystal knob. Might know you would see a Coyote trying to relieve himself lol.

Wow, these pictures are beautiful. Great framing of the house exteriors as well. This looks extremely similar to a place Ive been to on fiddlers green in ancaster but the subtle differences convince me theyre not the same. Is it in the same area?

Thanks for the vote of confidence. This was a tough place to keep monitoring because it is so far from the road, and a road with no shoulder parking. A round-trip 'quick check for access' takes about 45 minutes from nearest parking.

I remember that shot well, because the snow was knee deep, and getting from the position where I took that shot to the house was one of the most exhausting hikes ever! My lungs were absolutely burning.

I know the house you're talking about, as do many others here in the Ontario forum. This isn't the same one, but they're both in the same general area. They're about 8 km apart.
