Death in Paris Catacombs

Just saw this, apparently a 45yo man suffered a heart attack after "feasting" on drugs and alcohol (bad translation from French article).

http://www.leparis...9-2016-6111979.php

There are some English articles linking to it but most are just "OMG people go in catacombs and sometimes they drink beer and/or get naked!"

Turn off the internet and go play outside.

It's a pity that despite this man's acolytes immediately calling for assistance, the underground epic eur was badly completed.

I think nobody being taken into custody even with the drugs and alcohol is a good gauge for how seriously Parisians take trespassing in the 'combs. Really fills me with regret that I never made it down there.

Sounds like he was feasting on death.
And death smiled...

Here's an English version for those who don't understand French.

"Are you happy now with all the choices you've made?" "Are there times in life when you know you should've stayed?"
"Will you compromise and then realize the price is too much to pay?" "Winners and losers... which one will you be today?"

Refraining from taking anyone into custody over this is better for everyone because if the group with the person were to get in trouble, word would spread and subsequently others with a group member facing an emergency would be less likely to seek help immediately and show the responders where the person is or it could take them longer to make the decision to meet authorities and help with the rescue.

Tough situation I know, and anyone in their right mind should put life and health above arrest record, but if you punish those trying to help someone, in the future that simply means others will be less likely to want to help in similar situations.

Hundreds if not thousands of people party in the catacombs every weekend. Whether or not you're against drugs, it is usual and customary for these folks to do what they do, so it's better to discuss how to do it safely as opposed to increasing the punishments or whatnot.

I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird.
