UER members/Urbex folks from Hawaii?

I didn't know if this was an appropriate thread to post, so I am more than willing to take it down if need be, but I was wondering if anyone lived out in the Pacific Islands who were explorers as well. Also, is there an easier way to find out where others live to meet up than posting something like this? I do know about the "Events" section, but I might not be able to travel so far as the islands just quite yet. I want to make new buddies and find a group to go exploring with, it's anxiety provoking to go by myself since I'm still a newbie to exploring "skills," and I would love to gain more insight from experienced explorers, or to grow in knowledge with someone who is just as new as myself. Look forward to hearing from ya'll!

Asking here is probably the best way to find out. I don't think we have regular members in Hawaii, and those that have lived there tend to move away after a few years.

I visited around 2010 and found Kauai in particular full of some pretty spectacular abandonments.

Thank you Steed for the help! I live on Maui, but plan to move in January back to the mainland, and there are just not that many places to explore. I've found a few, yet some are highly guarded with roads and security. During my last semester here I plan to go island hopping when I get breaks, so I'll do a little research on Kauai. I think I might have even found a potential location for a WW2 bunker on Oahu. <--- I hope that wasn't too much info for me to give out as a basic member since I know other basics that aren't with good intentions can see my posts. Just let me know and I can edit.

(NOTE: Edited for grammatical errors I noticed.)

No, not too much info. The only site I can think of like you describe though is protected on military property though so be careful.

I think I know which one you are talking about as well, but there is another one I'm thinking of as well. For clarification, if I wanted to give you the name of the bunker I'm thinking of, is that too much information? I'm just wondering what IS and what ISN'T too much info since I'm still trying to get the hang of things on this website, and as I grow to a successful/honorable Urbex. Thank you for the help!

I probably wouldnt know it by name but I could ask my friend who went there. Posting names publicly is risky sometimes, but PMing it is safer.

Ah ok, thank you, I appreciate that you let me know about potential risk!

Active military reservations (be especially wary of active bases) fall under federal jurisdiction.
A federal trespass arrest is a big, expensive nightmare.
That said there are many decommissioned bases and --bunkers- all over the coastal regions... fair game.

We've been to Kauai a few times. There's several places I want to go explore, but I'm there with my family.

That didn't stop me. While my parents were stuck in traffic trying to get to the north shore, I'd be jumping the fence at the Coco Palms.

I'm the parent...

I think next time we go, Mrs Wheedle, and Wee-Wheedle are gonna have a mommy-son day while I rent a motorcycle and go exploring.

Haha, yea I was thinking about going to Coco Palms, but I don't know if they have started their reconstruction there. I'll check into that.

Awww "Wee-Wheedle." Yea there are some pretty good places out here to rent a motorcycle for a day or so from.
