Hey guys! I'm a long-time lurker and a new member, so I figured I should show a few of the places I've explored. I've only been to places in and around Ottawa and North Bay, but I'm hoping to see much more in both areas soon and maybe check out other regions in the future. 1.

Welcome! I swear I've seen #4 before. Is it on the Bruce Trail??

When I saw your name I actually said out loud, "You've got to be fucking kidding me!" Then I looked closer and realized it WASN'T he who shall not be named.

4. Is the Carbide Willson Mill in Gatineau Park 3. Is an abandoned hotel in the forest, definitely the best location I've been to. Here's another shot from it:
It's fairly well hidden, has a lot of different types of decay and areas to explore, and it's big, so that's always great. Seems to have been abandoned for about 15 years.

Agreed - the hotel in the forest looks like an A1 location. Very nice interior shot. Here's to many more posts in the future and not lurking any longer. (a real toast - I just sat down to check out some threads with an experimental beer; a cold glass of one called Boneshaker..... Man, this shit is strong!)

Thanks! I'll have to make a thread about the hotel, I took two trips there and have many photos, a few of which I've posted here and there. As for Boneshaker, I've tried that one in a pub once. Definitely a strong beer fitting of its name.

Number 3 looks really great, how was the flooring, was it dangerous as some spots? Also, is that in the north bay area or the ottawa area?
|
|
I especially love number 5! Nice set

Wow these are beautiful shots! The Mill for sure is my favourite. The hotel would be a great adventure for sure. Is this in the Ottawa area?
|
|
The hotel is near North Bay. It's a concrete structure, so the floors were perfectly safe. It's just the penthouse that had wood flooring ~1 foot above the concrete that was damaged/sinking in places, so not much of a hazard beyond getting a foot stuck.

great stuff, seems to me like Eastern Ontario is having a resurgence of explorers. welcome aboard

I might as well post this here: if anyone in the Ottawa area is interested in going out to some places, I'd love to come along and see them as well. Of course that would mean me returning the favour and going to some of the places I've been to in this area. So if anyone is interested, just send me a message and we can figure things out!

Soon enough i'll be heading to the Wailingford mines near Buckingham. Most likely next weekend. Let me know if you're up for it!

I walked across the Prince of Wales bridge last week - what a great little hike. Planning to go back to crush some beers on a nice day. Carbide Wilson ruins look very interesting, too. Didn't realize it was there, so thanks for the heads up!
Baby like the way I wake her up, 'Cause I'm a gangsta, I grab her by the butt, Pull her to my side, I'm in deep, Woke that ass up just to put her to sleep |

I'm unfortunately too busy for any exploration next weekend, but thanks for the offer! I looked it up and while I wouldn't really consider urban exploration, I'd still love to see it.

is #4 a bridge in Peterborough by any chance?
|
|
I presume you mean #5? That's the Prince of Wales Bridge between Ottawa and Gatineau.

|
I guess I should update this thread a bit as I've explored more since. 1.
