I'm sure this is a pretty well known spot for my area, but it was my first church explore and I will admit I was pretty excited to be there. I have a thing for religious art/architecture and have been looking forward to finding some to discover. (Even though I'm not at all a believer. I'm just weird, I suppose). This structure was originally a convent, and later it was a catholic school that closed around fifty(?)ish years ago. I couldn't find a whole lot of history on this place, so if anyone recognizes it and knows about it I'd love to know more.
Also, as an aside, if anyone knows this area and could tell me whether or not the abandoned trains are still out there I'd appreciate it! My friend and I had the coordinates of where they were rumored to be but couldn't find them. We thought maybe they had been removed.

That's a very cool location - I like your establishing shots in particular. I've noticed that RI has some cool shit that gets easily overlooked.

To bad it's so smashed up. I've shot a Catholic school that was intact but being demoed. It was sort of cool.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

Smashed stained glass makes my heart heavy every time. I'll never understand the desire to destroy beautiful things. :/

Place looks cool. You don't see many more modern looking churches abandoned.

I am amazed this is still here, last I knew they were building apartments quite nearby. I'm sorry I don't know any history but I have been there in the past. There was/may still be an abandoned train nearby that has most all its cars and engines. Also a very cool house with a children's room filled with star wars stuff from a long long time ago. Edit- Sorry I missed the last part since i got excited seeing this old place after so long. The train is most likely gone, tho there were a few more in the southeastern ma/ri area. I might be able to figure out where, but i cant guarantee that there still there ;( sorry

You are correct! They are building apartments nearby, it'll probably be gone soon. My friend and I walked around looking for the train cars with some coordinates we have but couldn't find them. There's a farm on the land near there now and we didn't want to chance gun owners so we didn't spend too much time on it ^_^

Goggle earth search it. Follow the rail lines, they should be near them. Maybe a spur coming off a main rail.

This is good advice! We have google earth searched it. A lot of this area has been developed and what's left is very overgrown. I just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone had been there recently and knew for sure whether or not it had been removed. We did do some searching, but were unsuccessful.

The train was completely overgrown, right on the main set of abandoned tracks, you cant see it from google earth, I remember I had tried at one point long ago. It looks just like the rest of the woods it merges into .I dont remember a farm, It was more of an industrial site area...

It is entirely possible I wasn't even close, my info wasn't overly reliable. ^_^ thanks for the info!

That is Simmon's Farm, really nice people. I'm friends with their son, and the dad actually runs a Punk Rock label. And yeah the Monastery will be gone very soon unfortunately. It's been gutted for a long time. The train you guys are talking about is something I've been meaning to find. Guess I'll have to take a long walk on the tracks. Hopefully it's still there.

Pretty sure the trains were out of the picture in 2013. Lots of rich people track housing blocking the way, besides! Cool to hear about who owns that farm, btw!
