Is Leaving a Sticker Vandalism or Tagging?
< on 4/26/2016 3:26 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum
My friend has a small time urban exploring youtube channel and had asked me what I thought about him getting custom stickers with his channel name and a small graphic and leaving one behind at the places hes been. I wasn't sure what to think, it's not permanent so someone could peel it off, but at the same time it leaves your mark behind. I don't think he's talking about slapping it up where everyone will see, but tucking it away, maybe near his POE. Thoughts?

On a pristine place untouched by time, I'd be rather annoyed at finding such a thing. In a building that's loaded with graffiti already it wouldn't really be hurting much.

Leave only footprints... what's he think he is a UE Zorro?
Lol, the Phantom. He was too busy tagging to take pictures, oops.
Knowing I was there was always enough for me.
An image is worth a thousand stickers...

Some members here have had their names tagged on sites without their permission by pussies, myself included.
Best not to open that can of worms. Lol, I've been places I've never been.

Being an older guy I've not been able to wrap my head around the narcissistic, "look at me" selfie attitude of millennials. Tagging, stickers etc. are all part of this. To what end does it serve other than self promotion? To what end does that self promotion serve? More views on a website? More "likes" somewhere? It seems that the latest crop of humankind we have spawned has its self esteem tied directly to how many followers they can obtain on the latest fad website.

Rather than placing a "hey look at me I was here" marker somewhere, take that moment to pause and appreciate where you are. That sticker will fade, fall off and eventually be destroyed however that moment you enjoyed will be yours forever.

I think I saw your name tagged on the fence behind "the grassy knoll" a while back.

Not 100% accurate my memory has begun to fade and fall off already at the young age of 59, where the Hell will it be next year?

Would be kinda funny to leave a clipboard and sign in sheet and see who came at what time lol. There's a place near me that very few people have been to, so much so that you can tell if someone else visited before you. More or less the point would be to connect with those who have also explored the location. it'd be kinda cool. I appreciate your take on it, good perspective.

Maybe you should look for it behind the grassy knoll 😛

I know people who leave piles of cards carrying their flickr/instagram names etc on around places, I make a point of collecting them up and destroying them whenever I find them.

I bet your friend has plenty of space in his arse for stickers, pointing out his "point of entry"...

I'm not for it, but I must say if you're going to do a sticker... Juicy J holding a box of lean cuisine is really the only way to do it.

Finding a sticker of someone is by no means ground for an arrest. Thats like going and arresting people at zumiez because their stickers were found in an abandoned building. There's no proof that the person who made them actually put them there. Nice try though.

Maybe so. Ever been questioned by the FBI?
Arrest isn't the only thing that could happen. Hint: make sure those are Jehovah's Witness at your door before you go nuts on them. FBI Agents look almost the same and drive plain Jane cars a lot of times

Intentionally leaving anything that IDs you is not only vain but stupid.

Let me know when the FBI bothers coming your way for urban exploring. I take it you have no family in law enforcement or who provide legal services.
