Found this while traveling to our main find. Looked empty for years, such a shame, would be a beautiful house if it didn't sit empty. The main house, several small barns and a few outhouses later and we have this..... 1

10 - My personal favorite, 1977 T-bird. Looked like it was in incredible shape, front seats had a bit of wear and column was tore up but the backseats looked like they never were sat in. Dash said 99k on it which is probably right, no way it has 199k. I'll add those pictures later.

Awesome photos, great find. I wish I knew the back story. Who they were.

It appeared that the woman was school teacher (lot's of school books) and he was obviously in the military.

Whoa!
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. | |
Those chests <drool>. I love old hope chests. I bought one at an antique shop one time for $50 and spent 2 months restoring it. Mrs. Ulcer wanted something more contemporary for the house and we ended up selling it for $500. To see one of those with filled with old books (another love of mine) made certain body parts of mine move... Interesting find, thanks for sharing.

I debated for a long time about taking a few things but that *is* someone's stuff and life. I did mark the location on my GPS so maybe this fall if we go back (only 45min drive) and see what is left. It just seemed like a shame that this was someone's home and all their belongings are sitting here rotting away. We found several photo albums, lot's and lot's of clothes and misc household items.. Is the property completely abandoned? Are the children trying to figure out what to do with mom and dad's stuff? Can the family not afford to take care of the property? The floors were rotted and destroyed, mouse shit everywhere, the power was turned off outside with the box pulled apart. Most of the windows are broken and the front door was gone, the screen door was torn apart and just hanging there, banging against the frame when we pulled up. The pathway looked warn with old gravel but was clear they haven't mowed at all this season. I suppose only time will tell.
