My biggest regret.
Well, I do a lot of rooftopping in my home town, and blog about it all. One time the local paper got in touch saying how much they loved my photos and wanted to print them. I agreed and sure enough, I was in the local paper. And it was a good, positive article.
But the mistake was ever trusting them because having collaborated once they took a real interest and later wrote a horrific scandal article on some of my adventures. Even though my blog has disclaimers and writes very honestly about my ethics, they twisted everything and really villainised me.
It was an awkward time for me, and I had a lot of hate mail from other explorers. Fortunately the long term impact has been good- my viewcount has gone up and so many people have written in with comments like "Your blog is totally different to how the paper made you look. They're full of shit."
The lesson is, never trust the media. They still ask me sometimes if they can use my pictures. The answer is always no.

Precisely why I have turned down opportunities to speak with the press. Sorry to hear that mate. Glad it has not stopped you.
