No, not that West Georgia mill... ( Large Pic Heavy )

I went wandering about Sunday and took some pics of an early 1800's mill warehouse. This mill is often confused with another nearby mill which has a very similar name.

The old warehouse is pretty well destroyed.

The foundation for the old water tower that supplied both the mill and the milltown.

You can see the 1930's company store in the background

The original mill was located about 1/4 mile from here on the creek, which I accidentally located the ruins of later. You can see the later mill, built between 1907 and the 1950's down the street in the background.

I was also scouting for POE to the actual mill complex. I spotted four huge buzzards on the smokestack. I haven't seen one that big since the one I almost headbutted on the bike in Cripple Creek VA a few years back...

It's actually a fairly large complex for the area.

A nearby local landmark

A broken child's toy discarded on the railroad bank.

So, as I'm driving to the other mill to assess how active the site is, I spot this through the woods. The ruins of the original mill dam, built in 1866...
So I turn around, and find a place to park on the shoulder, grab the camera, and slide down a muddy 6ft embankment. Turns out the place is posted, but the sign is 15ft high in a tree that you can't see from the road. Screw it, I took a few pictures anyway. The millrace is still there also, but my pics of it didn't turn out for poo. I would like to go back and look for the foundations later.

I did find a couple of POE's for the complex, but I'm not sure abut where to leave my vehicle. I got accosted several times by a local meth-head asking for a cig, asking for couple bucks for a coke, asking about the camera, asking why I locked my car...

Definitely looks like an interesting spot. I like the history you put on your finds as well. Great set!
