Nothing more than pictures of the Ryugyong Hotel really. A few pictures of the interior exist but you dont go there unless you have business there.

There are a couple more UE/infiltration opportunities that are easier for people on the standard country tour but I dont feel too comfortable sharing them here.

I'd be willing to bet those crazy Russians will eventually make their way to N Korea. The guys who climbed the Jesus statue in Brasil recently.

It wouldn't be hard for them to get in the country, but in a way that would allow them the access needed to set off through the city and reach the thing, highly doubtful for at least a few more years.
I've got a friend who considers Kim Jong-un a "dear friend" so maybe I could ask him about the possibility of a visit.

The country is opening more and more every year. Most things that were off-limits a few years ago can now be visited, including the entirely length of the Pyongyang metro, and almost every major city.
One of the more interesting places that's still off-limits last I checked is the DPRK parliament building: http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=119594 Ask nicely and maybe they'll let you in.
You used to be able to get into the base of Ryugyong hotel through the needleworks factory shop thing, but that was before they resumed construction.
A not terribly well known 'secret' is that you can catch taxis to get around Pyongyang on your own. There are foreigners living and working there, and the drivers can't tell the difference. I wouldn't recommend walking around.
There is tonnes of stuff to see without getting into dodgy territory. I'd highly recommend going if you get a chance.

I'm mostly certain my friend hasn't been there, which is why I'm asking htp123. The only person I know of who's been in there and photographed it was Simon Cockerell, and possibly people with him.

There are tons of abandoned buildings in NK. Problem is, there is also an insanely draconian government there as well. If you aren't from there you aren't leaving the presence of the "tour guides"

As an American, I'd feel really uncomfortable about breaking ANY law in North Korea, no matter how minor. That seems like a really good way to get detained as a political hostage.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

Good advice, always.
I'll probably make a more serious post about this in the future so people don't mix it up with the top post; I have no intention of encouraging actual urban exploring on the trip (though I do plan to ask for as much access to the Ryugyong as possible).

American citizens can go, though they face a few stronger restrictions. Tourism money is far from a lucrative source of income for the North Korean regime, and the increased contact has other advantages. I had reservations about going at first, but got over them. People owe it to themselves to see what a true totalitarian country is like.

You're right, it really is hard to grasp what life is like there. Seeing is believing.
