One Star Hotels

I recently made a trip to a couple of abandoned hotels with a couple friends. Unfortunately we didn't make it out before they demolished part of the first one we visited but there was still plenty to explore. The second hotel surprisingly still had a lot of stuff left despite being abandoned for such a long time.

is that a rocket?? I really like the shot of the ice skates. I'd say the ones on the left are bearing an uncanny resemblance to how mine are starting to look...

thanks for giving it a try

Nice. Three looks like a pretty cool shot, but pretty scary place.

That's so cool, I was just at that place over the weekend! At least picture number 4 looks super similar to me. Are the two hotels close to each other?

Wow, those skates look like they've been through a lot. And I can't believe they would leave behind all the dishes as well!

Those who say they can, and those who say they can't are both usually right.

Graffiti writers love tagging pools.
Resorts get really messed up really quickly. You gotta get them where they're fresh!

Still one of my favorite regions to explore.

This is the pool in 2013.

This is the pool in 2011.

It seems someone painted half that pool white since then.

I gotta stop by this place next time I'm in the area. I want to see that bowling alley again.

I see what you mean.

Maybe they ran out of paint before they could finish?

I've been watching the drama about this place since their first battle with the town in 2008.

It's owned by the "Skver" hasidic group. The name derives from the city where they originated from in Ukraine: "Skvyra". Their home base now is New Square, NY.

They were trying to turn it into a summer camp for girls, but the town condemned the place and forced them to close down the facility. The local FD put a "let it burn" order on the place that if the building caught on fire, the building was too unsafe for the firemen to enter the building to fight the fire.

This all resulted in an unarmed standoff with the Health Dept who ultimately called the state police to forcefully eject the occupants from the buildings.

someone had painted half the pool the large paint cans were lying around all over it did seem like they had run out of paint and never finished.
The local FD put a "let it burn" order on the place

While walking through the place we started to hear beeps all over and finally figured out that all the smoke detectors where still functional but dying

From what I hear, the bowling alley is as bad as the pool.

Its city kids traveling up to see the cool abandoned places they saw online. I have run into multiple groups of writers up there and its the same story.

"saw it online"

....and people say posting pictures doesn't lead to vandalism. hahaha

I agree i think that news articles end up giving it so much unwanted attention.
