This place is visible on google maps, but the imaging is from 2009 and my partner and I had no idea whether the place was still standing as we drove out of town. As we approached its location, a thick, dark patch of trees became visible - obviously untouched for years - in stark contrast to the surrounding groomed countryside and well-kept houses. From our position on the highway, the mess of trees obscured the house and we both doubled over in anticipation of whether we'd find it intact or just a collapsed shell left behind. As we reached the driveway to the property, the payoff stood as the building was standing and as eerie as ever. We spent some time examining the exterior before donning our woefully inadequate respirators and heading in. The wood was soaked from previous days of rain and the entire sunroom's roof was near collapse, so we decided to avoid risking the structural integrity of the first or second floors and stick to the basement instead. We weren't disappointed. We stayed for around an hour and a half, and when our fingers had frozen through we decided it was best not to overstay our welcome. A return trip is in order. Videos will be released soon. Enjoy! 1.

Killed it with the shots as usual, we definitely need to return on a dry day and make our way up to the second floor.

Lovely find! Reminds me of one of my favorite homesteads in rural Michigan. 1860s, limestone cellar, quiet, remote, surrounded by trees and hayfields. I just discovered recently that, on some roads, google has Street Views as far back as 2007 available. Still a mystery, though. You just don't know until you go! Lack of a roof is going to make for a sketchy explore, but could be very worth it.

yeah.... once the roof goes bad it wont take long. good call and good stuff!
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

Love, love, love the tones of these pictures. Basement looks pretty cool with all the jars. My favorites are #3 and #6.
