I shot a lot of 4K video in Bulgaria in June/July this year. Getting through the editing during these holidays, including the main attraction of the former socialist meeting house at Buzludzha. Vimeo is finally hosting 4K video, which (if you're not yet familiar with it) is four times the image size of full HD.
And thank god Vimeo now does 4K. Although the compression rate is so high, you can almost never get the full effect. Also, so many of us don't have the gear to view 4K. Sigh... someday.
Quick question: why did you choose the vignetting around the frame? It looks cool, just wondering if there was any cinematographic reason or whether it was purely stylistic.

I like vignetting, but only the slightest bit, to give the sense that the image recedes from us at its margins. The logic is the same as photographic vignetting - that we want to guide the eye towards the point of interest, which is often not at the very margins of the image. It's something that's easy to overuse, however, especially when combined with other "retro" feeling filters.
Most videos I make do have the vignetting. However, I didn't use it in this one below, as at 0'32" the head at the top of the chimney, right at the edge of the image, needs to be seen.

I see that you're using the GoPro head mount (and a helmet -- so glad!). Have you had any experience with the chest mount? I love the POV sense of the head cam, but I'm interested to work with the Chesty.
So you shoot with a head mount at the moment? You're right - it's more of a POV "look with me / as me" effect. I do have a chest mount (somewhere!). It was the first mount I bought with my first GoPro. I think parkour and action sports people like the chesty because it is fairly stable, so if you're looking straight ahead it's got its merits. But in my experience, the neck is a more intuitive and flexible panning mechanism than the chest. What kind of stuff are you planning to shoot with the chest mount? I saw in another thread that you're also interested in drone shooting. I was trying out an animated demo for a drone the other day. Apparently I could fly right up to Lady Liberty and land on her head. I doubt NYC laws would be so accomodating lol.
