Sadly the town of Haverstraw is trying to make Letchworth Village into a Legoland. If this happens Ill definitely cry. I love this place so much, they've been talking about it for a long time, better get up there soon. Im going saturday. Guess y'all can post your photos here! for feedback and stuff i don't know

I've been there twice over the past half decade. I have no need to go back. Whatever is left is the bottom of the barrel buildings. The only thing I'd ever go back to see if the chapel or whatever it was, but I've seen pics of it recently and it looks terrible.

There's not much they can do at this point to preserve anything there, so if it means they can bring in a ton of revenue to the town and state with a LegoLand, so be it. Economic stability is far more important than a bunch of explorers complaining that "history is being ruined".

There is a lot of outcry from the town residents though. Even if they do approve this plan, it's not going to be a quick process. Not to mention there are Letchworth buildings on other parcels of land that I doubt are going to be included in the overall plan.

Regardless, it's still there now. Go enjoy it while you can. That's all you can do. Right now I'm on my way to go look at Greystone Park one last time before it's completely gone. It will be done within the week.

Fuck yes, I love legos!

But seriously they've been proposing this for over a year, still remains just a proposal.

I'm far enough away to not be in the loop of what is going on here, but last I heard there were only two buildings in risk of demolition. The center building that has fire damage and the main hospital building. I enjoyed my visit there, but once was enough for me. Everything is in pretty bad shape. It so well known, there were kids running around all over the place. Everyone was just climbing on the buildings that were along the public road which prompted me to leave.

The town or city (whatever) has 12 projects up for proposal so i doubt this is gonna happen fast

Pretty bad when residents would rather have a rotting corpse of a hospital than an amusement park in their town .

Sometimes putting in amusements parks does about 100x more bad then good. I would be strongly against it if they ever tried to put one in to my town. I'm already upset enough they legalized gambling in this state.

Boo, you're no fun... I have never been, but I bet Lego Land parks are fucking awesome! I think the location was the main problem, looks kind of out of the way

Putting a Legoland on top of Letchworth would be like putting Disney Germany on top of Auschwitz.

I'm happy the old place has more time left. One of my absolute favorite places to explore. Even if it's insanely haunting! I always go pay my respects at the cemetery down the road as well.
