House and Barn

A few months ago, a friend and I went for a hike and then did some exploring at a barn and house near a certain abandoned mental hospital.

1. All that's left of a late 18th century bridge. From 1750 until the 19th century, there was a mostly unsuccessful search for gold in the area and the bridge was later used by the employees of the now-defunct rubber factories. Yes, my friend and I walked over it.

After failing to find any gold or silver, my friend and I went to check out a house and barn.

2. Barn exterior. I know the angle is a little weird, but the only other picture of it that I have shows the POE.

3. Inside the barn.

4. I had to take a picture of this just because I had been watching The Matrix earlier in the day and this made me think of it.

5. Does anyone know what this thing is?

6. Upper floor of the barn. I pulled the door closed just for this shot.

7. Inside the house. Once upon a time, this resembled a kitchen.

8. Crappy picture, but I like that wall color and the fact that it actually looks like part of a kitchen.

9. Chunks of the walls and what look like curtains.

10. Another possible curtain. And my friend's legs.

11. Awesome old radiator.

12. Barn and house. If you look on the left side, you'll see a small part of my friend's arm.

Enjoy!

Cool looking spot! That barn looks like it's still really sturdy.

@Sanitarium Sean: I was quite amazed at how good of a condition it's in. The bottom floor was a little messy, but it still looked like a barn.

@CarthageForever: The bridge was really cool, but walking over it was incredibly nerve-wracking.

Softly creeping through
Empty hallways decades old,
glimpsing history.

Yup. The barn is beautiful. I'm amazed that the radiator, sink, and some of the cabinets in the house were still intact.

You NEVER see drywall without mold in an abandonement...
