If you're into mines and have some extra time on your hands this weekend:

Do report back, won't you?

I don't think you can actually do down into the mine this weekend. Or any other time for that matter. They stopped public tours years ago. If they do give tours this weekend, PLEASE let me know. I would love to go.

One of our reporters went down in there last year and I was so pissed at her because she didn't let me know she was going. I could have gone with her.

I remember the Salt Palace. When I was younger we'd drive past it on weekend getaways to the family lake house near Hawkins, but it was always closed as we'd drive through at odd hours. Driving past it, I always wanted to lick the walls and go inside so i did all this research and hyped myself up and then one day I finally got to go inside and was a little disappointed with the lack of many real artifacts from the mines that the museum had. Oh well, I still got to lick the wall
