Revisiting an Old Friend

On the way home from exploring the aquarium last weekend, I made another stop to revisit the well-known Cleveland factory that was my first industrial explore several years ago. I had heard that it had been partially demolished and wanted to make sure I caught it again before it all comes down. There are five sections of the complex that takes up two city blocks, built from 1888 to 1922, north end to the south. Fortunately, the middle three (definitely the least interesting) were the portions that had been reduced to exterior walls and a sizable debris pile. Basically, the only differences were the lack of a roof and that endless piles of tires had become endless piles of bricks.

My other motivation for returning was that I was unable to explore the entire complex the first time. I didn't get to enter the southernmost building due to a dog that bounded out and tried to eat me. This time around, the building was wonderfully free of dogs. I still missed out on the top floor of the five-story building because both stairwells were cut off between four and five. Don't think I missed much because three and four were pretty bare.

1. The oldest section of the complex

2. The partially demolished midsections and 1922 addition on the end

3. I started with the south end because I didn't get to see it the first time around.

5. Prom? I'd like to see how that proposal went over.

awesome!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

I think I added a note about the dogs in the DB, glad they're gone! I haven't been there yet, maybe this year I'll finally make it inside when I'm on vacation in Cleveland. Great photos!
