On February 6, 1954, the Cleveland Aquarium was opened in a former park bath house built sometime in the 1930s. The aquarium contained about fifty exhibits that including sharks, piranhas, and an octopus. The overcrowded aquarium was expanded in 1967. It was closed in 1985 due to structural problems and the exhibits were moved to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Since the closing of the aquarium, the Cleveland Police Department has used (and still may use) the property to train their canine units. In the thirty years that the building has been closed, it has fallen steadily into disrepair. Despite use of the buildings by the police, most of the glass enclosures where exhibits were held remain. Many relics of police use still remain as well including pamphlets, magazines, caution tape and traffic cones. There are also many broken television sets and microwaves scattered throughout the building. One interior room contains several nasty couches, a TV set with a shattered screen, and a stopped clock. 1.

I'd be very surprised if police still use that building. Nice find. I like the shark/swordfish paintings.

this place is a wreck!
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

Love the light coming through in 13.

Second! Thirteen is awesome. This spot looks super fun. I love aquariums, and practically never pass up an opportunity to visit (a functioning) one. Cause I'm, uh, actually six and I like seeing the sharks swim around okay!!! Thanks for the great set of photos as always and the background on the place man!

Thanks for the comments everyone! This was definitely a fun and enjoyable explore. It's so full of stuff you could spend hours inside despite the building being rather small.

Loving 13, 18, an 19! What an interesting little explore. I will still always be amazed how so many things are just left in buildings to rot away (I mean good shit like TVs and Couches..etc)
