Could have been suicide, but seemed more like a slip - if so, a good reminder not to do stuff like that without ropes of some sort.

It's quite a relief that this kind of stuff in Australia is not really linked to urban exploration or if it is it's considered more of a thrill-seeking arm of urban exploration.

The way he desperately tried to cling on after he made the first slip... Damn, I can't even imagine what those split seconds would feel like. I think I'll stick to rooftops (with none of my appendages hanging off the edge) when I feel the need to climb something.

Jeez...that was intense... It should be said that there is no reason to do anything like he was doing when climbing most cranes. Most cranes are really quite easy and safe to climb. They have caged ladders with frequent landings all the way up, and railing at the top. That is, unless you decide to go venturing out onto the jib, or randomly climbing around like this guy. Cranes are designed to be climbed by workers on a daily basis without fall protection, with minimal liability, and under the watchful eyes of OSHA.

Exactly, this guy was trying to walk on top of the thing... some people can't just do that , have the balance etc (like mustang wanted etc) Ive done a lot of crane and if you fall it's really beacause you wanted to push it too far like walk on the top off the arrow (we call this 'la fleche' in canada) to showoff...
Il y a toujours un moyen. |

I still want to do a crane sometime, but this video is a good reminder not to try anything unnecessarily dangerous (Such us walking on top of the arm like this guy)

Oooooooooooouch. Sometimes i think about this whenever i climb towers when it rains

Unfortunately my 'watching someone die' cherry has long since been popped- on video only, thankfully not in real life yet, so I had no hesitation, which is sad. This one wasn't bad to watch because you don't see the landing zone (haha), but probably one of the more terrifying ways to die... makes me wonder, if you measured the levels of adrenalin and oxytocin right after death, what would be the most terrifying way to die? Also it's in Russia or somewhere thereabouts, those guys are crazy what do you expect
"See you guys, you never listen to me. I said there was gonna be trouble but you didn't listen to me. You guys are crazy. You know, you guys are self destructive. There's a funny farm and it has your names written all over it. But I'm gettin' out of here. I'm... I smell ice cream!" |

I can't count the number of times on this site that I have said the "thrill" is not worth the risk. It was just a matter of time. I hate this. Makes me sick.

I'm not a big climber of things either. I got two kids that need me and I've seen too much mayhem on this site alone as the result of climbing shit.

I'd love to see his GoPro footage.

This doesn't faze me, he died by his own stupidity, anyone could have climbed that crane without falling, it was his own decision to walk on the top.
