I finally had some free time so I went to check out another one of Cleveland's derelict factories. Built in 1926, the five-story building was used to make radiation meters until it closed in 1978. In the years afterward, it was occupied by other companies and eventually fell into disrepair. At some point, a fire burned the front section of the first floor and worked its way up the stairwell, blackening the walls, stairs and railings all the way up to the 5th floor. Furniture, bundles of unused cardboard, and stacks of bricks are scattered throughout the building. When I was there, much of the floor was ice, leaving many objects frozen to the ground, including a tire almost completely submerged in the elevator shaft. Up on the fourth and fifth floors, I found a steady water leak coming from the roof, probably from melting snow and likely the source of the ice-coated floors below. 1.

23 is OMG!
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

Love this set, especially the photos of the fire damage and that big icicle!

Absolutely awesome location - I really enjoy Cleveland, and this set does it justice. I especially enjoyed 4, 9, 11, and 23. Great shots, I would love to check that place out sometime. Is your one of the streets around it from the building's roof?

Cleveland definitely has a nice collection of locations. Yes, the picture of the road was taken from the roof looking west toward the city. I took a few more from the roof as well but didn't include them along with some others I liked because the post was getting pretty pic-heavy.

Not sure why, but there are multiple industrial buildings in Cleveland and Youngstown (probably other places too) where certain stairwells have been entirely or partially removed while others remain complete. I would understand if it's because that particular stairwell was extremely unsafe for some reason but if the objective is to keep people from ascending higher, it's kind of pointless to leave some and not others. Fortunately, this building had a second complete stairwell that was entirely climbable despite fire damage all the way up.

This is often done by scrappers.

Great pics! I drive by that place frequently. Not in the best neighborhood.

Never thought I would say this, but i think i need to take a trip to Cleveland, now. Look at all the ice and such in those pictures. 11 and 21 appeal to me. All that rust and the ice and the blue paint looks great
