I will be visiting Salt Lake City 7-8 March, anybody know if coal mines around Price are accessible and not demolished? I'm considering visiting Hiawatha mines, Sunnyside mines or Soldier canyon mine. I've seen very nice photos from there, but from 3 years ago... also anybody know are they easily accessible without 4x4? Maybe something else is worth visiting around SLC? thanks in advance

I think Hiawatha is now owned privately, and watched. I have been to Sunnyside, but never seen the actual mines. The land may have been reclaimed.

Coal mines are generally not safe to do. Sulfur dioxide and other dangerous gases build up once the ventilation systems are turned off.

Well, I could find any big structures on google maps where those mines should be, so probably Sunnyside and Genova mines are demolished...

I was at Sunnyside last Friday. They are starting to demo the buildings.
