The mall opened in 1968 and closed in 2013 and is set to be demolished this Sunday. It has been in disrepair for a while and the amount of mold was insane.
Holy awesome! I guarantee you those TV's/turntables/etc. have been in there for at least 30 years, as JCPenney nixed hardlines (and their auto centers) in 1983.
It's also not uncommon for department stores to build taller exterior walls; it's for aesthetics and usually to hide HVAC machinery.
