1. Navigate to an intersection. Click a building or site. (This one has since been demolished.) In the top left corner, the business name pops up. Click Street View.
2. The current Street View displays. In the top left corner, click the down-arrow next to the little clock icon.
3. A small window opens with a dated Street View. Move the slider at its bottom to other dates to see historical views of the building.

Interesting. I did not know that Google Maps provided the historic views like they do with Google Earth. The latter is wonderful for finding locations and stuff around them.

Great trick, I've been using this in Paris to look at catacombs access points and see if some manhole lids have moved between two different dates.

I use this feature pretty much anytime I'm using Street View for exploring purposes. One of my favorite abandoned houses has 4 views: 2007 (lived-in), 2009 (abandoned), 2012 (burned), 2013 (demolished).

Online maps are the best when it comes to scouting out a location. Not sure if I can hotlink a government website, but here's an animation I made showing one abandoned location growing into a highrise from 2007 to 2012.
And here's what it looks like driving around in the camera car:

Thank you for the tip. I didn't know that you can do this with street view.

I use this site often. A little slow, and sometimes tough to use. But it has some cool tools, like split screen, and other functions that can keep you busy for hours..
